In 2015, I was given the opportunity to document Air Force Master Sgt. Roidan Carlson as he struggled to reunite with his fiance and her son, both Turkish nationals. Just when everything seemed to be finally gaining traction, the Turkish capital city, Ankara, suffered the largest terror attack in the country's history. While they were thankfully safe and sound, the American embassy was set back several months in the wake of the attack. In February of 2016, they were finally brought together again in Syracuse, New York where I was lucky enough to photograph their reunion and wedding.
